FOTD Birthday Edition!

Today is my official birthday!

I want to thank all of my close friends for coming out and surprising me on Saturday.  It touched my heart beyond what words can express.

Unfortunately, I had too much "fun" at dinner and did not take any pictures of this surprise, or my dress!

The only photos I have were taken with my iPhone, so they are not the best quality, and of course they are of my makeup.  I was very happy with the outcome.  It was a very simple, yet sexy look that focused on playing up the eyes.  Exactly what I was going for.

Ciatè Caviar Manicure: Review

Good day everyone!

I meant to post this review about two months ago, but in true Stephie form- I forgot!

I'm sure everyone is pretty much familiar with Ciatè's Caviar Manicure™  (yep, I believe they are applying to trademark the term! Read about it here if you're interested)

After seeing this on Good Morning America, I knew I had to get my hands on it.

April Favorites

Hello darlings!  Another month has just breezed on by, and here we are again with another "Favorites of the Month"!

KISS- EVERLASTING FRENCH IN REAL SHORT

For $5.99, I gave myself the best french manicure of my life in less than 5 minutes!

I've had these on for almost a week now and they haven't fallen off or chipped.  People have complimented my nails, and are always so surprised when I tell them about the product.

Yep, you can get them at your local pharmacy for the same price as gratuity at a normal salon!

They look great and because their short, they don't get in the way of my every day activities (except volleyball- ouch!)

This next product I am about to mention has changed my life.

WEN
I came about this product on a Sunday afternoon. I was innocently watching TV, when this infomercial came on.
Now, I don't usually buy into infomercials, but Alyssa Milano was the spokes person, and for some reason I find her to be credible.
This hair care system isn't a shampoo, but a cleansing conditioner.
I have thick curly hair that can be downright impossible.  Wen gives me this incredible shine and softness I've never had before.
After my first use, friends were asking me what was different with my hair. They said that it looked a lot sleeker and healthier.
My first order was a 30 day trial and came with everything you see in the below picture, plus a comb.
Remember, if you order through the Wen site, you are automatically enrolling for a "membership".  So make sure to cancel as soon as your order comes in.
This product may not work for everyone because we all have different hair types, but it definitely works for me.

My last favorite of the month is the:
EOS LIP BALM IN MEDICATED TANGERINE
I had originally jumped on the eos bandwagon last year, with the Summer Fruit (hot pink) balm.
I hated it.  It made my lips feel like I had a tape or something un-smooth on them.  Almost like it just sat on top of my lips and didn't absorb.  Needless to say, I was not a fan.
Luckily, I found the Medicated Tangerine and decided to give it another try.
I am so glad I did!  It's wonderful.  I have used it so much that I no longer have a sphere.  It's more like a plateau!
I love applying the eos balm under my lipstick as a primer.  It works nicely with drying lipsticks such as Lime Crime, and keeps my lips looking soft and supple.

So there you have it.  My favorite products for the month of April.

I conclude this post with some photos of very good friends that I haven't seen in so long!

Sunday's LOTD: Adele Inspired

First of all, how gorgeous is she?!  I first fell in love with her music when I heard "Chasing Pavements", then I saw her face and was blown away.  So stunning.

I wanted to re-create the look from "Someone Like You", but a warmer version instead.

Eyes:
[Lime Crime] Candy Eyed Eye shadow Helper
[Lorac] Shimmery pinky gold eye shadow in Moonstone- Crock Palette
[Lorac] Suede- Croc Palette
[Lorac] Shimmery brown in Serenity- Croc Palette
[M.A.C.] Vanilla pigment
[M.A.C] white eyeliner in Fascinating
[Lorac] shimmery creamy pearl in Enlighten - Color Me Couture Palette  (over eyeliner)
[Stila] Stay All Day Liquid Liner in Carbon Black
[Fiberwig] Mascara
[Ardell] Lashes

Face:
[NARS] Orgasm
[NARS] Laguna (contouring)
[Too Faced] bronzer in Pink Leopard

Lips:
[NARS] lipstick in Promiscuous

I also made cookie monster themed nails (I love Cookies and Cookie Monster!)

I got this idea from NiceLucy11 on YouTube.  Click here to check out the video.

Considering that I could not find my dark brown polish and had to make my own (using brown eye shadow and clear polish), and that I do not have a dotting tool, I must say that I am satisfied with the turn out.

Until next time!

The Key to Healthy Hair Skin & Nails

I have been very eager to put together this entry as I think it is super important for every beauty ritual.

All information was gathered from research and personal experience.

*I would like to begin by saying that what I am about to discuss pertains to vitamins that have worked well for me, and may not necessarily work for you.  Please talk to your physician for more information on the right vitamins for you.*

I've got a lot to share, so let's begin.

What are Vitamins?

A vitamin is an organic [chemical] compound that plays essential roles in our body’s processes.  They participate in reactions inside cells, and each performs a specific role in the body.

With the exception of vitamin D, the human body cannot synthesize these organic compounds (vitamins); therefore, they must be obtained from food or vitamin supplements.

As we progress through different stages in life, our body’s need for specific vitamins will change.  Deficiency of a particular vitamin you need, can lead to serious health problems.

Due to events like the dreadful monthly visits from aunt Flow, pregnancies, Osteoporosis, etc. women tend to be more deficient in essential vitamins than men.

In my past experience with vitamins, I either did not feel the effects, or the vitamins made me sick.  So for a very long time, I did not take any.

But when I found myself tired and not as lively, and my hair and nails were dry and brittle, I wanted to give it another shot. I was recommended “Women’s One a Day” multivitamins.  Some people absolutely love these vitamins; however, I was not one of them.

I started experiencing frequent stomach aches and nausea, and was more tired than usual, not to mention the bright lime green…ok that may be TMI…

Basically, these were not for me.  In a conversation with my dear friend, she filled me in on her same experience with the vitamin.  After she had spoken to her doctor, he told her that it was the excess amount of iron that was making her sick…IRON!  I was in total shock because I am (or maybe was) borderline anemic.

She then recommended the GNC brand “Women’s Ultra Mega Active without iron”.

After taking the vitamin for almost a month, all the previous symptoms are gone, and I feel more vibrant and awake.

I absolutely love it!  I am not exaggerating when I say that vitamins have changed my life.

This is why I can’t stress enough that: A) you take vitamins or consume the proper foods, B) you keep in mind that everyone is different.  You may have to try different brands or types before finding the right one; and C) Talk to your physician about the right vitamin/ diet for you.

In addition to the Women’s Ultra Mega (no iron), I picked up the GNC “Hair, Skin, & Nails Formula” supplement…WOW.

This product has been amazing for me!  My nails are growing so quickly and are so strong, my hair is super shiny and healthy, and my skin looks more radiant (although it could also be my new Oil of Olay Total Effects moisturizer).

Here is a picture of my healthy nails, just to show you what I’m talking about:

Therefore, I would highly recommend that everyone begin their beauty regime from the inside, then out.

Since we are on the topic of nails, I thought I'd squeeze in my two new nail polishes from Nicole's Kardashian Kolor collection.  They are such great colors!

Kim-pletely in Love is my new go to pink, replacing Essie's Vanities Fairest.  The specks of green and its iridescent color is so whimsical and feminine.  I definitely am "kim-pletely in love".

Disco dolls chipped easily but was worth the color pay off.  It could be that I used three coats, which made it flaky.  I'll try it with two next time.

Thanks for stopping by!

23 December 2011

Merry Christmas!!

I spent the ENTIRE day doing my nails, just in time for good ole Santa...

They went through many phases of painting and clearing, then painting again.

What a labor of love, hehe

Please excuse my right hand. It was so hard to do because I'm a righty!

Have a happy and safe holiday everyone!
